Can’t I find the Money On My Own?

The governmental agencies we audit typically DO NOT post these unclaimed funds accounts online.  You are welcome to search state unclaimed funds websites, but if you find funds there, these are not the funds we’re informing you about.  The funds we are referring to are never placed on these public web sites.
Now, be careful and act fast.  These funds are only held for a brief period of time; you must claim these funds quickly, or the agency responsible for them is permitted to seize them permanently.  The funds will be lost if claimed too late or if the paperwork is not done correctly and in a timely manner.  The paperwork cannot be allowed to sit a clerks desk  until the time runs out.  Diligent followup and constant contact is necessary or the money can be lost.  We know who to contact and our job is to “follow the money.”  We don’t get paid if the money is not collected, so we are very motivated to stay on top of things and make sure they get processed in a timely fashion.
